Vanilla Buns

Step 1: Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the mixture and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
Step 2: Mix the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Step 3: Knead the Dough:
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Shape the dough into a ball.
Step 4: Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel.
Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Step 5: Shape the Buns:
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball and place them on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between each bun.
Cover the buns with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Step 6: Bake the Buns:
Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
Bake the risen buns in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
Step 7: Prepare the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
Step 8: Glaze the Buns:
Once the buns have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top.
Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy the soft and fragrant Vanilla Buns warm from the oven, or store them in an airtight container for later enjoyment. Whether enjoyed on their own or with a cup of coffee or tea, these homemade buns are sure to bring comfort and joy to your day!
