Turkish Flatbread

Instructions:

Step 1: In a large bowl, mix warm water, milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir briefly to combine. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.

Step 2: Sift the flour and salt into the yeast mixture. Stir until a thick dough starts to form.

Step 3: Add cooking oil to the dough and knead lightly until it forms a cohesive ball. Coat the dough lightly with cooking oil, cover with plastic wrap and a tea towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Step 4: After rising, turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead briefly, then divide into 6 equal pieces.

Step 5: Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten into an 8-inch disk on a lightly floured surface, akin to a tortilla’s size.

Step 6: Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook each flatbread for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes on each side until it puffs up and forms pockets.

Optional: Brush each flatbread with olive oil and sprinkle with parsley and chili flakes for garnish. Alternatively, customize your flatbread with sweet or savory toppings to suit your taste.

Serving Suggestions: Enjoy as a breakfast treat with butter and jam, create a mini pizza with your favorite sauce and toppings, or fold over with meat and veggies for a hearty sandwich.
