Smothered Hamburger Steak

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and mushrooms. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables in the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
