Meatballs in Onion Gravy

For the Meatballs:
In a bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Form into 1-inch balls.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the meatballs until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-15 minutes. Remove and set aside.
For the Onion Gravy:
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.
Gradually stir in beef broth, scraping any bits off the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy has thickened, about 5 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Return the meatballs to the skillet with the gravy and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.
Serve the meatballs and gravy hot, ideally over mashed potatoes or noodles.
