Maraschino Cherry Cake

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch heart-shaped pans.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add shortening and set aside.
In another bowl, mix milk, cherry juice, and extracts. Pour into the flour mixture and beat for 2 minutes until evenly blended.
Add egg whites and beat for another 2 minutes.
Fold in the chopped cherries.
Pour into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Use the toothpick method to check doneness.
