Fried Green Tomatoes

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper.
In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg.
Dip tomato slices in the buttermilk mixture, then coat with flour mixture.
Fry tomatoes until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
