The Perfect Recipe: Classic Steak with Creamy Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
For the steak:
2 sirloin steaks, about 1 inch thick
2 tablespoons butter
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 cloves garlic, minced
Fresh thyme
For the mashed potatoes:
4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Prepare the mashed potatoes:
In a large pot, cover the potatoes with water and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes.
Drain and return the potatoes to the pot.
Add butter and heavy cream, then mash until smooth and creamy.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm.
Cook the steak:
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.
Add butter to the skillet and allow it to melt.
Add the steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
Halfway through cooking, add the minced garlic and fresh thyme to the skillet.
Remove the steaks and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing.
