3️⃣ Season: Stir in the cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes to blend the flavors. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

4️⃣ Prepare for Baking or Frying:
For Baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
For Frying: Set up a frying station with a large skillet and heat olive oil over medium heat.

Roll out the empanada dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut out circles using a large cookie cutter or the rim of a bowl.
Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle. Top with a generous sprinkle of cheddar cheese.
Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to crimp the edges closed.

6️⃣ Apply Egg Wash and Cook:
Brush the top of each empanada with the beaten egg.
If Baking: Place empanadas on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
If Frying: Fry the empanadas in hot oil until golden brown on both sides, then drain on paper towels.

7️⃣ Serve: Serve the empanadas warm, either as an appetizer or a main dish.
